Bought these speakers because the reviews here were good and the videos I watched on YouTube.
I just returned to Japan and sold all my AV equipment in Hong Kong. As my lifestyle has changed considerably, I doubt I will buy a full-blown entertainment center again, unless I decide to buy a house in Japan again. As such, the only thing I had to listen to connect to my PC was a Bose Soundlink Mini II. The Bose served its purpose but I wanted to buy something that can provide cleaner sound and separation between L/R channels. The Bose can tire your ears out after extended use.
I considered soundbars, active speakers, passive speakers + mini amp, as well as monitor speakers to connect to my PC. My office is in my living room and when we watch movies, they are played from my computer (32" monitor which is reasonable) using these speakers.
In the end, I chose these speakers. I am very satisfied with the purchase too.
SOUND QUALITY:
The sound is very clean and covers a wide range. I was very impressed with the clarity. Highs are quite high and Mids are strong too. Bass can sound a little weak but when watching a movie or listening to music, they jump out. But honestly the bass is on the lighter side and for those that can't listen to music without bass, you have the option to connect a subwoofer.
In all honesty I was a little surprised at the lack of bass when I first listened to these speakers. But I left them on playing music for 2 days straight in order to wear them in and the bass has become noticeably stronger.
DESIGN:
The wood construction is very nice. You don't get any appearance of budget or cheap with these speakers. They are inclined slightly to project the sound closer to ear level but in all honesty I would have preferred a rectangle instead.
CONVENIENCE:
The Bluetooth is great. The connection was simple and effortless and incredibly stable. I have yet to hear any pauses or missing beats.
Also, just as a reference, I connected my laptop via cable and Bluetooth and couldn't notice any difference in sound quality. In the end, I am using Bluetooth to avoid one more cable on my desk. I may change my mind when my desktop arrives as it has a better sound processor than my laptop does.
DURABILITY:
I can't answer this. I've only been using them for a week. Hopefully I don't experience any issues in the future.
All in all, I am very satisfied with this purchase. Considering the price paid, you can't go wrong with these speakers. Obviously there are better options out there but expect to pay alot more. For now, these are good enough for me.
